English Department Tutoring Schedule

Students are advised to participate in tutoring to maintain good academic standing.  Students should take advantage of tutoring in the following situations:

1. Students who are unable to grasp the content and skills required by the course.

2. Students who have excessive absences causes students to miss essential instruction.

3. Students who are candidates for assessment recovery.

Assessment recovery is an option for all students to retake a test. The assessment recovery option applies to summative assessments only; it does not apply to homework, quizzes, or in-class assignments. In addition, assessment recovery does not apply to pretest, cold read, midterm or post-test.  The opportunity is offered to eligible students scoring below 75%  on any summative assessment. Students who refuse to take a test, cheat on a test, leave a test more than 75% blank, or do not put forth effort as determined by the classroom teacher or follow through with the free daily tutoring as outlined on the NISH tutoring schedule are not eligible.  The highest re-score that can be attained through assessment recovery is a 75% C. Students are only allowed one (1) opportunity to recover an assessment. After remediation, students have 5 makeup center days to retake a test for assessment recovery. Note: Honor students are allowed to recover only 2 assessments per grading period.
