Homework Policy

  • Throughout the year students will primarily have to complete Guided Notes for homework. These assignments act as a study guide for upcoming assessments. These assignments provide students with the historical content and empowers them to come into class prepared to participate in higher-level learning activities. For a student to receive full credit on their Guided Notes Assignments they must:
      1. Answer all the questions in complete sentences

      2. Created their own form of notes

  • Students have the Choice
      1. Students will have a choice in how they complete their guided notes. They can read through a PowerPoint Presentation (available on Google Classroom and in a printed handouts) or watch an animated video.

      2. Students have a choice in how they wish to create their notes. They can choose to create an outline, flow chart, graphic organizer, or mind maps as their notes. The content in a student’s notes is not subject to grading.   

  • If homework is incomplete, students have to use the start of class to get the answers from their group members. Full credit will not be given for this assignment.
  • Make up homework

To receive partial credit, students will have to write a one paragraph summary of the guided notes.

  • 3 = 75% (one-two day late)
  • 2 = 50% (three-four days late)
  • 1 = 25% (four or more days late)
  • 0 = 0% (incomplete, student does not complete the assignment)

Homework is subject to a pop quiz grade. This does not have to be announced.

If you are absent and fail to complete the Guided Notes on their due date, you will be required to write a one paragraph summary of the guided notes.

      1. This is because students will receive the answers to the guided notes at the start of class

      2. This assignment will receive full credit when completed.

  • Homework that is not a Guided Notes Assignment is subject to the following grading scale

4= 100% (submitted on time and complete)

3 = 75% (one-two day late)

2 = 50% (three-four days late)

1 = 25% (four or more days late)

0 = 0% (incomplete, student does not complete the assignment)
