ACCESS= Accessing Comprehension & Communication in State to State
(The ACCESS for ELLs test is the annual assessment required by NCLB/ESSA)
This widely used suite of English language proficiency assessments is given to English learners in grades K-12 to monitor their achievement and measure their progress in English language development
AMAO= Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives
ELD= English Language Developed (Development)
ELL= English Language Learner
(A student who uses another language in addition to or other than English)
ENL= English as a New Language
ELP= English Language Proficiency
ESL= English as a Second Language
(Program name for Middle Township and is also referred to individuals who are learning the English Language in an English Language environment.)
ESOL= English Speakers of other Languages
FEP= Fluent English Proficient
FES= Fluent-English-Speaking
FP= Fully Proficient
HLS= Home Language Survey
IPT= IDEA Proficiency Test
(English language proficiency assessment for grades K-12, but it is No longer accepted in NJ for placement or for exiting)
K W-APT= Kindergarten WIDA ACCESS Placement Test
L1 & L2= Language 1 & Language 2
LEP= Limited English Proficiency/Proficient
LES= Limited-English-Speaking/Speaker
LTELs= Long Term English Learners

MLL= Multilingual Learner
MODEL= Measuring of Developing English Learning
(Assessment test for grades 1-12 for entering and exiting)

RELL/RELs= Reclassified English Language Learners
SI= Sheltered Instruction
(Sheltered Instruction is the act of using simplified English in a classroom for students who don't speak English as their first language.)
SLA= Second Language Acquisition
SLIFEs= Students with a limited or interrupted formal education
TSOL= Teaching Speakers of Other Languages
TESOL= Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
W-APT= WIDA ACCESS Placement Test

WIDA Model= This suite of flexible, on-demand English language proficiency assessments can be used to identify and monitor the progress of English learners.
WIDA Screener= This suite of assessments is designed to help educators decide whether an incoming student in Kindergarten through grade 12 would benefit from language support services.
