COACH TRAHAN’S RULES AND PROCEDURES

MATERIALS:                          1 – notebook or binder w/ paper, for class and home work

                                                1 – writing utensil

                                                1 – basic calculator

                                                Physical Science textbook

                                                *These materials will be brought to class daily*

 

GRADING POLICIES:           

               

 There will be a minimum of three(3) 100 point assessments per grad. Period.

  1. The tests will consist of any of the following:  multiple choice, matching, T/F, short answer and constructed response.
  2. Quizzes on prior information may be given at any time, including videos.
  3. Assignments, consisting of handouts or textbook pages, are worth 40% of your grade.
  4. Always copy the questions from the book when assigned.
  5. Typical Chapter coverage consists of the following:
    1. All vocabulary completed and studied every night.
    2. Section reviews, ques. And ans.
    3. Video quiz
    4. Chapter Review
    5. Chapter Test
  6. Those who make 74% or less on a test are eligible for test recovery.  You will inform me on the day that you will go make it up.  I will place test in makeup center(library).  If you do not tell that you are staying, no test will be there.  Maximum grade achieved on recovery is 75%.
  7. A graded pretest and posttest will be given.  Posttest is worth 20% of your 4th grading period.

 

RULES OF CONDUCT:

 

  1.  All rules in student handbook apply.
  2. Students will be in classroom when bell rings. (tardy policy)
  3. Seatwork is quiet time, so you can think w/o distractions.  Talking, looking around, sign language, and other forms of communication are not allowed.
  4. Students will remain in seats until bell rings.
  5. There will be no conversation of drugs, alcohol, sex, fighting, other teachers or administrators, unless initiated by me as part of a lesson.
  6. Do not make fun of others, even in a friendly manner.
  7. Avoid unruly behavior in assemblies or work in halls.
  8. Keep the questioning in the scope and context of what is being taught.
  9. If I am talking in the class, then you are not.
  10. No sleeping in class.
  11. Behavior is your key to success.  It will contribute to how much you learn, not only in this class, but all situations in life.

 

DISCIPLINE:                          1ST OFFENSE:  Verbal warning; WPAM entry

                                                2nd OFFENSE:  Phone call or letter sent home to parent; WPAM entry

                                                3rd OFFENSE:  Referred to office; Major referral

*This progression is for minor offenses; Majors are immediate referral.

 

 

 

THIS CLASS WILL BE ENJOYABLE FOR THOSE WHO APPLY THEMSELVES.  BEING PREPARED FOR CLASS DAILY WILL FORCE YOU TO EXPERIENCE THE WORLD OF SCIENCE THAT IS ALL AROUND YOU!
