2024 Abilities Expo

The Abilities Expo is coming back to our area!  The Abilities Expo will be back at the New Jersey Convention and Expo Center, Edison NJ on May 3, 4 and 5, 2024.  It began over three decades ago and is considered the premier disabilities event across the nation!  Disability products, adaptive sports, inclusive recreation, vehicles and assistive technology are all in one place over a three-day period.

Tour With Us! - Virtual Tour of Access Program - Hudson County Community College

Tuesday, May 14, 2024 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Join us for a virtual tour of the ACCESS Program at Hudson County Community College. The ACCESS Program is a 15-week pre-college workforce transitional program based on a differential learning structure. The courses will teach Fundamental Life Skills/Student Success, Work Readiness, and Computer Literacy.

Optimizing Health Outcomes for Individuals with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities

Growing Older Together: Aging Siblings and Intellectual Disability

June 3, 2024 l 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM l Zoom

This workshop explores the unique dynamics experienced by aging siblings where one member has an intellectual disability. Participants will explore strategies aimed at enhancing the well-being of both siblings, recognizing each sibling’s contributions and needs. Additionally, attendees will focus on the varied roles and responsibilities typically taken on by non-disabled siblings, especially as parents become unable to provide primary care and support. Participants will gain insights into the challenges and rewards of this life stage for those they support, along with strategies for better supporting the entire family unit.

Note: This training currently is ONLY open to employees of New Jersey DDD, DDD/Medicaid Approved Providers, and individuals with disabilities and family members. To meet the training needs of the entire state, there is a limit of participants per agency for this training.
