Purpose of EIP

 

Children start schooll at a designated chronological age, but differe greatly in thier individual development and experience base. The Early Intervention Program (EIP) is designed to serve stduents who are at risk of not reaching or maintaining academic grade level. The purpose of the Early Intervention Program is to provide additional instructional resources to help students who are performing below grade leve obtain the necessary academic skills to reach grade level performance in the shortest possible time.

 


Georgia's A+ Education Reform Act of 2000, commonly referred to as House Bill 1187, mandated the Early Intervention Program (EIP) in kindergarten through third grades.

A revision of the bill extended the program to grades four and five.
