- Word Endings-er, est, ing, ed, s, es, ies
- Multiple- Meaning Words
- Synonyms/Antonyms
- Compound Words
- Homophones (sound the same, spelled differently)
- Suffixes/Prefixes/Base Words
- Dictionary Skills
Science and Social Studies concepts are imbedded throughout the reading series. Examples include: Science- A Harbor Seal Pup Grows Up, The Tiny Seed Social Studies: A Visit to the Dentist, New Americans in Florida
Grammar Skills include:
- Types of Sentences ( statement, question, command, exclamation)
- Parts of Speech (subject, predicate, noun, verb, adjective, adverb)
- Proofreading and Correcting
Spelling is included in the Phonics series and is assessed every fifth lesson.
