Pre-K & Kindergarten

Some Important Information:

In Pre-K & Kindergarten music, we cover elements that make a strong musical foundation. These skills include becoming:

- Tuneful (to have tunes in their heads and learn to coordinate their voices to sing those tunes)

- Beatful (to feel the pulse of music and how that pulse is grouped into twos and threes)

- Artful (to be moved by music in the many ways music can elicit an emotional response)

Students achieve this by using an eight part musical workout routine:

1. Pitch Exploration (Vocal Warm-ups)
2. Song Fragments (Echo Songs & Call-and-Response Songs)
3. Simple Songs  (Sing whole songs independently)
4. Arioso (Child-created Tunes)
5. SongTales (Musical stories)
6. Movement Exploration (Develop body coordination)
7. Movement for Form and Expression (Experience the expressive qualities in music)
8. Movement for the Beat (Keeping a beat in groups of two or three)
