English I Supply List

  • a 2 inch binder (for English work only)  Your textbook will fit inside this binder
  • a jump drive (USB drive) for storing and submitting assignments
  • loose-leaf paper (2 packs)
  • dividers (five colored preferably)
  • blue or black pens or you may use pencils
  • a library card from a Livingston Parish Library (These are free at the Albany-Springfield Library.)
  • 2 magazines (appropriate for school)

 

 

 

English I Lessons for this year include the following:  literature, research strategies, writing, grammar, sentence structure, mechanics (capitalization/punctuation), word order/usage, reading strategies, vocabulary, projects, and film.

For October and November, we are going to...

  • interview two teachers in order to write the interview narrative.
  • listen to some great speeches given by some famous orators to help us with our argumentative essays
  • read some really exciting short stories that will connect us to real-life situations and circumstances.
  • watch video clips of some of the short stories we read in order to compare and contrast the genres
  • create a photo story (a story board) about a short story (your choice) and present it to your classmates.
  • turn our classroom into a photo gallery in order to teach about a certain literary time period.
