Our Focus for September and October will be Steven Covey's "Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens"

  • Habit 1:  Be Proactive
  • Habit 2:  Begin With the End in Mind
  • Habit 3:  Put First Things First
  • Habit 4:  Think Win-Win
  • Habit 5:  Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
  • Habit 6:  Synergize
  • Habit 7:  Sharpen the Saw

For this unit, you will...

  • prepare a screensaver of the seven effective habits to use for daily self-reinforcement.
  • complete a variety of surveys.
  • write a formal letter of thanks to someone who deserves your gratitude.
  • keep a personal journal of each habit.
  • write a personal mission statement and set goals.
  • observe activities around campus and report as proactive or reactive choices.
  • complete a "kindness board" in the classroom.
  • research quotations concerning positive behavior and positive attitudes (in song lyrics, literary selections, and books such as Bartlett's Quotations)
  • create a "relationship bank" account.
  • create a storyboard presentation of your "Seven Habits" journey to present to the class.  This will be set to music!
