We celebrate Character Education each and every day at Compass. This means that we expect our children to be kind, thoughtful, and caring of one another. Our children learn the character traits of: citizenship, caring, trustworthiness, fairness, respect, responsibilty, self-control, and sportsmanship. Every month I go into the classrooms and conduct meaningful lessons and model the character traits that we are looking for in our students. At the end of the month students have the opportunilty to be chosen as a model student for that particular character trait. Below is the character pledge that we say each morning:
Character counts in the things that you do.
It's the way you treat me and the way I treat you.
This is our pledge to do the right thing.
Here are the words that we choose to sing.
C is for caring for everyone here
A is for acting responsibly all through the year
C is for taking care of our community
S is for good self-control that everyone can see
This is our promis to act with respect.
We will make Compass the very best yet!
