Lab Journal: A section of the Class notebook will be dedicated to keep an accurate, chronological journal of all lab work. A separate graphing lab notebook is required for Honors and AP levels.  AP Levels will be required to submit a formal typed lab report.  Pre-lab and post-lab discussions will be used to point out safety precautions, to help draw conclusions, and to relate the lab to topics that are presently being discussed in class. On occasion, the teacher may give open-notebook, lab quizzes to evaluate student comprehension of the calculations and concepts used in the labs.

Safety, Safety, Safety

Laboratory work is an important part of chemistry, and safety is a must in the chemistry laboratory. Carefully read all handouts on safety (as specified by the teacher). NO HORSEPLAY will be tolerated in the lab area!!! Goggles/Safety glasses and Close-toed shoes (NO SANDALS NO FLIP-FLOPS) MUST be worn in the lab at all times. You will receive (1) warning. After this you will be asked to sit out for that particular lab and will receive a (0) for that lab. Students are responsible for paying for any glassware or equipment that is lost or broken by them due to negligence during the year.

CHEMISTRY LABS: (20% of your grade)

On-going labs and their due dates will be announced in class. The due dates may differ for different class periods because of the double period schedules, so pay attention to teacher announcements!

Do the Lab as a Word-Processed or at least neatly written-in-ink Lab report. Some labs will include a calculation section too!

The format for lab reports is given below:

  FormalLabReports.doc
