Welcome to high school English!!!!!
Hi, I am Ms. Dana Ray. I am half of the high school English department at Holden High School (Valarie Dufrene is the other half, and she is amazing). I am very excited about this school year.
English I and English II use the SpringBoard Curriculum which is aligned to the state's standards. Additionally, English III uses a blended SpringBoard / textbook curriculum which is also aligned to Louisiana's standards. The SpringBoard content promotes a rigorous curriculum that uses varied performance-based lessons to enable students to use higher-order thinking skills. Each unit has multiple assessments in the form of projects, written assignments and exams. English I Honors and English II Honors focus more intensively on these units with additional required readings, projects and assignments.
Last, ALL students review standardized testing strategies in preparation for the LEAP 2025 (English I/II courses), ACT (English III only), and the PLAN test (10th grade only).
