PAX Good Behavior Game

"PAX is a Latin word. Most people think it means just peace. It is a much bigger concept in Latin. Health, wellbeing, safety, order, productivity, and harmony are implied." (Paxis Institute)

During the first few days of school, we will begin something called the 'Good Behavior Game.'  This is a strategy not only for classroom management, but to promote respectful, responsible, productive and caring students. Students will come home with new phrases such as PAX, spleems and tootles. I was able to participate in a training for this game and I'm excited to see how it works. It looks promising! I especially like the 'tootles.' This is the opposite of a tattle, but much more than that.  Tootles are publicly posted notes. These notes will contain positive messages when someone is showing model PAX behavior in the classroom.  Students will write these positive notes about other student's behavior or something that they did. Teamwork is encouraged, and one minute rewards will be given. This will take minimal time and is promised to promote more instructional time.
